Mandawa is a town, situated in the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan. A town rooted deep in its culture and traditions, Mandawa lies pretty close to the capital city of Jaipur.
History and Culture
Mandawa was a trading outpost for the ancient caravan routes that stopped here from China and the Middle East. The rich & powerful merchants built lots of ‘havelis’, adorned the walls & interior with beautiful wall paintings or Frescoes splashed with blues, yellows, greens and indigo, in order to have a showy & luxurious residence, which speak about its glorious past. One will be mesmerised by its grandeur, aptly characterised by paved archways, murals, mirror works and paintings this cultural heritage, comprising artefacts and objects and many more to see.
Having grown in a culturally rich atmosphere, the locals have the sense of appreciating art and are involved in art work like painting, craft handicraft etc.
Climate
The mercury dips to as low as a single digit number and even zero in winters while in summers, the town experience scorching heat. Starting from October, the heat begins to subside and the weather becomes pleasant. Hence, it is considered the most tourist friendly time to visit Mandawa.
