Get ready to spot swimming elephants, wild buffaloes, tigers, deer, occasionally rhinos, water monitor lizards, beavers, monkeys, turtles, eagles, vultures, storks, kingfishers and more.
An Elephant ride through the jungle of Kaziranga National Park will give you a better view of rhinos & other wildlife. The elephant safari is organized by the Forest Department twice a day.
The elephant safari allows only four tourists and a Mahaout at a time.
Like any other tiger reserve or wildlife sanctuaries one can enjoy jeep safari in Kaziranga also. The forest department arranges two shifts of jeep safari for its visitors. The jeep is allowed to carry 6 people at a time. Jeep safari can cover large area than the elephant safari.
Come face to face with a tradition fishermen tribe and their iconic bamboo homes built on stilts. The Mishing tribal community is a tribe of fishermen with some agriculture, animal husbandry to supplement their income. The women weave cotton fabric and brew the local apong beer.
Satras are most significant part of Neo Vaishnavism culture. These are both temple and culture centre for Neo vaishnavite disciple. Most of the Assamese people are followers of Neo Vaishnavism. Saint Srimanata Sankar Deva established 64 satras in Majuli island to spread the culture and education in ancient time. Due to erosion in Majuli island, only 31 satras left.
