Tawang Festival is a cultural extravaganza that takes place in Arunachal Pradesh, in the town of Tawang. The festival celebrates Arunachal’s rich cultural heritage with traditional dances, indigenous sports, Buddhist functions, films, food, art and hand-looms.
The Tawang Festival takes place for three days, this year the dates being 28th to the 31st of October. The festival starts with ‘Sebang’, a religious procession of the Tawang monks that starts from the Tawang Monastery and ends at the festival areas. Major attractions of the festival are are the Dance of Yak and the Aji-Lhamu Dance.
Every event and dance takes place on the streets, allowing the locals and tourists to walk around and enjoy multiple events and see Arunchal in a mesmerizing riot of colours.
